Choices and shyness

Having decided I was going to jump on the bandwagon, I found myself unsure about what to photograph. It had to be something close to home, but what would be interesting over time? I’m still not sure so I’ve taken 3 shots this morning and we’ll see how they develop over time.

The first is taken from just outside my front door and shows the first thing I see when I leave the house – my car. And a child.

This could work as it goes from being in full shadow to full sun as the day progresses and, as the year goes on, the intensity of the light will change.

Then I thought of standing at the letterbox, looking back at the house – something else I see at least once a day.

Again, I thought the change of light and shade could be interesting. And, ten years down the track, I still love the colour of our bricks.

But then I thought something with a longer view might be more interesting, so I took a shot looking down our street, toward the creek and the freeway.

Of course, now that I’ve taken those three and posted them, I’m wondering if shots of the tree in our backyard might be more interesting, since it’s deciduous and blossoms in Spring… Maybe I need a fourth shot.

On top of all that, I started to feel a bit shy about crashing someone’s party, in a manner of speaking. I don’t know any of the people involved. I read one of their blogs regularly. So what right do I have to join in? I feel a bit uncomfortable about it.

But I’m going to press ahead. I think…

I am sure that these folk would be flattered that you thought it was a good idea. And I love these photos. They make we wish I was home.
